Madrid city centers delicatessens offer a great range of food tastings, many bars offer tapas and a beer for as little as 3 euros and the Mercado de San Miguel buzzes with culinary activities.
On top of all this, there will be two new ideas introduced this year. These will be the Ruta Golosa (Sweet Route) and the Ruta del Café de Colombia (Route of Colombian Coffee).
The Ruta Golosa will wind it's way through some of Madrid's best confectionaries and pastry shops, whilst the Ruta del Café de Colombia will focus on breakfasts, sweet and savoury treats, cocktails and different tastings and talks on anything to do with this aromatic coffee.
Another new addition this years Gastro Festival is Gastrosalud (Gastrohealth). This is a joining of the Spanish Heart Foundation and Madridfusion trying to promote the great importance of healthy eating for cardiovascular health.
As well as all that, from 21st - 23rd January 2013, Heston Blumenthal, Joel Robuchon and some other top chefs from around the world, will be gracing Madrid with their presence for the 10th Edition of Madrid Fusion. This is a three day event of demonstrations, food related talks and workshops.
For these two weeks Madrid really is alive with food and Spanish cuisine is truly in the spotlight.
