Cost Of UK Passport Set To Tumble 35% For Expats Spain News

With budgets constantly being squeezed due to the economic crisis, it's welcome news to hear that the cost of a UK passport for expats living in Spain and overseas will fall by a whopping 35%.

The new application fees will benefit around 4 million expatriates living abroad and are the result of more efficient processing of passport applications which for the last three years has been carried out in the UK.

The new prices will apply from the 7th of April 2014 and will mean that both adult and child passports will be reduced by £45 for adults and £28.50 for children.

From the 7th of April, the new prices will be:-

Adults - £83.00 for a 32 page passport + £19.86 courier fee.
Child - £53.00 for a 32 page passport + £19.86 courier fee.
Jumbo - £91.00 for a 48 page passport (Adults/Children/Veterans) + £19.86 courier fee.

The new fees are still slightly higher than the fees paid by those living in the UK, but is due to the time it takes to process overseas passports. The waiting time for a new passport application is around 4 weeks from receipt of the form.

Please note that there is also courier fee for all applications which at the time of writing is £19.86 and provides secure transfer of your passport and supporting documents.
