Spain Ranked 7th Best Expat Destination Worldwide Spain News

In a recent report from expat community site InterNations, Spain was ranked the 7th best destination worldwide for expatriates looking to relocate.

If you are thinking of relocating to Spain, we think you've made a great decision. But don't just take our word for it, listen to the thousands of expats who were recently surveyed as a part of the InterNations.org report.

In the Expat Insider Survey, Spain came out in a very impressive 7th place worldwide and 3rd out of all European expat destinations. In total, the report included feedback from 14,000 expats in 160 countries.

There were a number of indices used to produce the report including ease of settling in, quality of life, personal finances and work and family life.

Of all the factors, Spain scored very highly on personal safety with 94% of respondents reporting that they were more than satisfied. This placed Spain in 5th position in terms of safety worldwide and surpassed the average of 85%.

Political stability was another consideration for those surveyed with 79% of people stating that they felt that the country was in a good position politically despite the recent financial crisis and austerity measures.

Another area in which expats felt most comfortable was in the "feeling welcome" category where Spain finished in 1st position out of 61 with a very positive score of 82%.

In the friendliness stakes, only 59% of those surveyed reported that they found it easy to make local friends in Spain. Although this figure was rather low, it was still considerably higher than the average global score of just 45%.

If you are concerned about learning Spanish, don't be. Around 71% of expats living in Spain stated that they found the language easy to learn with around 58% of people believing that life in Spain is more difficult if you do not speak the language.

According to the report, the worst countries in which to live are Greece, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait propping up the rest of the countries. The top two countries favoured by expats were surprisingly Ecuador and Switzerland.

So, if you are in any doubt about whether to relocate to Spain or you currently live here and think the grass may be greener on the other side, the InterNations report should have convinced you otherwise.
