Andalucia Announces New Vaccination Schedule For 2022 Health News

The Junta de Andalucía has announced the latest vaccination schedule for 2022 which will start at the end of 2021.

The main change to the schedule is the inclusion of a vaccination against Meningococcus B using the Bexsero vaccine. The vaccine is recommended at 2,4 and 15 months.

The Men B vaccine which was previously only available at a cost of around 100 euros, will now be free with vaccinations beginning from December 1, 2021, to babies born after October 1, 2021.

Due to the cost, only around 55% of children have previously been vaccinated with Bexsero, however, the Junta de Andalucía believes that with the financial barrier removed, some 65,000 more children will now be able to benefit.

The new vaccination schedule now also incorporates vaccine recommendations for adult citizens including influenza which is recommended from the age of 65. There are also recommendations for pregnant women.

The schedule for 2022 covers vaccines to protect against the following diseases.

  • Tetanus
  • Diphtheria
  • Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
  • Poliomyelitis
  • Hepatitis B
  • Haemophilus influenzae type b
  • Conjugated pneumococcus
  • Meningococcus B
