Sanitas Professional is private health insurance designed for self-employed people in Spain. It gives you full access to the Sanitas medical network (GPs, specialists, diagnostic tests, hospitalisation and surgery) with no co-payments.
A key feature of this plan is Total Protection - practical support designed around real-life “autonomo” situations if you are hospitalised or temporarily unable to work. This can include services such as housework support, home delivery of medicines, physiotherapy at home, and premium reimbursement (limits and eligibility rules apply).
You also have cover for healthcare following an accident at work or a road traffic accident, emergency assistance abroad for short stays, dental services, and digital healthcare via the Mi Sanitas app.
Comprehensive cover Primary care + hospitalisation
Diagnostics Simple and complex diagnostic tests
Total Protection Extra support for autonomos
Digital care Video consultations, e‑prescriptions, results via the App + online wellness programmes
Visa / residency: Because this plan has no co-payments, it can be used for Spanish visa and residency applications. However, the policyholder must be registered as "autonomo" (self employed in Spain) before applying for the policy. If you want to compare other visa-suitable options, see our no co-payment health insurance guide.
