Spanish flag with suitcase US Travellers Can Now Enter Spain Without A Vaccine Or Quarantine Spain News

Spain has announced that all travellers from the US will now be able to enter the country without the need to produce a Covid test result or the need to quarantine regardless of whether they have been vaccinated or not.

The new measures will come into force immediately and will apply to any US citizens who do not visit another country prior to their arrival in Spain.

Despite American visitors not having to provide a test result or self-isolate on arrival, they will still need to complete the mandatory health control form

Once completed, the traveller will receive a QR code which can be presented to the Spanish authorities on arrival if requested.

Applicants will be able to request a paper version, however, it is important to note that each individual traveller will need to complete the health control form application.

The Spanish authorities had previously announced on June 7 that travellers outside of the EU would be able to enter the country as long as they had been vaccinated with a vaccine that had been approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or the World Health Organization (WHO).

American citizens previously had to produce proof that they had been vaccinated 14 days prior to their arrival, however, this is no longer the case.

The United States Embassy in Spain updated their latest travel information for travellers confirming, “There is no requirement to bring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test if you are traveling from the United States to Spain. However, this may change with short notice, so be sure to review this information as close as possible to your travel date.

The European Commission has also recommended that the U.S is added to the all EU Members States list of Covid safe countries.

The EU’s current list of safe countries includes Albania, Australia, Chinese regions of Hong Kong and Macao, Israel, Japan, Lebanon, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Rwanda, Serbia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.

The country saw a 71% increase in passenger arrivals in May compared to the previous month with 1,396,549 passengers. This is the highest number recorded since August 2020.

However, the numbers were still 84.2% lower than those seen in the same month of 2019 according to the latest figures published by Turespaña.

"Although we are still far from pre-pandemic levels, the data indicates that we have begun a gradual recovery of mobility, which will increase with vaccinations, the lifting of restrictions and the implementation of measures such as the EU-COVID digital certificate," said Reyes Maroto, Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism.

Spain hopes to attract around 15 million visitors during the busiest summer months of July and September.

It comes as Spain’s Ministry of Health published its latest Covid figures on Friday showing that almost 16 million citizens (33.8 per cent of the population) had been fully vaccinated with over 24 million having received at least one vaccine dose.

A total of 3,782,463 cases were recorded on Friday with a further three more deaths bringing the total to 80,779 since the pandemic began.
