Map Andalucia Andalucia Region To Remain At Level Zero Covid Risk Spain News

The entire region of Andalucia will remain at Covid health alert Level 0, it was determined yesterday, Wednesday, December 1.

With this decision made, the region will see no new measures put in place for bars and restaurants to limit their capacity or opening hours. A measure that was being discussed by the Spanish government in an attempt to stop the spread of the Covid virus, in areas where infection rates are rising.

With the long ‘puente’ of public holidays to celebrate Constitution Day on December 6 and the Immaculate Conception on December 8, it is believed that the next meeting of the Junta’s territorial committees will most probably be held in the days that follow.

Speaking to the SUR newspaper, health experts said that in order for Spanish regions to adopt these restrictions, it is not only the cumulative incidence rate of Covid cases in the last 14 days that is measured but in addition, the level of hospital beds that are full and the pressure on intensive care beds will also be taken into consideration.

At present, the number of patients with the Covid virus that have been admitted to hospital is good and the figures are nowhere near the numbers that were registered in previous waves of Covid-19.

Even though this is good news, health experts insist that we must all still be cautious as the virus spreads freely. Because of this they also propose that face masks are used both indoors and outside when it is impossible to keep a safe distance from others, avoid crowds where possible, periodically ventilate closed rooms, sanitise and wash hands regularly.

Figures published by the Ministerio de Sanidad on December 1, show that Andalucia has had 104.56 per 100,000 new Covid cases in the last 14 days and in total since the beginning of the pandemic the region has had 823,674 cases. As for the number of fatalities, the region's figures show that a total of 11,342 people lost their lives to the virus, 6 of them in the last 7 days.

As for Spain as a whole, there have been a total of 5,174,720 cases since the start of the pandemic and 88,080 people have sadly lost their lives to the virus.
