Imserso Travel Program For Retirees Begins This Month Spain News

The eagerly awaited Imserso travel program for the 2023/2024 season is set to kick off this month, and it comes with exciting news for retirees and pensioners across Spain. With an impressive increase of 70,000 places compared to the previous year, a total of 886,269 spots will be available, making it easier than ever for seniors to embark on affordable holidays.

Sales for the Imserso trips are scheduled to commence on October 26, starting in several regions including Aragon, Asturias, Castilla La Mancha, Catalonia, Galicia, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, La Rioja, Navarre, and the Basque Country. Just two days later, on October 28, residents of Andalucía, Cantabria, Castile and Leon, Valencia, Extremadura, Madrid, Melilla, and Murcia will also gain access to this highly anticipated program.

The Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030, in a press release, announced that accreditation letters are being dispatched from this week to confirm eligibility for booking trips during the upcoming season. Over 200,000 letters will be sent daily, reaching a remarkable 2,697,264 addresses and potentially benefiting 4,219,157 individuals throughout the month of October.

Participants in the program will have the option to book their trips either through the official website, www.turismosocial.com, using their ID card and accreditation code, or by visiting authorised travel agencies with just their ID card.

New retirees and pensioners seeking to join the program for the first time have until July 25 to submit their applications. Those who have previously participated in the program and are already in the Imserso database will receive renewal letters, simplifying the process.

To complete a new registration with Imserso, applicants can choose from multiple methods, including electronic submission through the Imserso Electronic Headquarters or by downloading the application form from the Imserso website or its Electronic Headquarters.

The completed form can be sent via electronic records, collaborating agencies, or by mail to the designated address: Imserso Tourism Program, P.O. Box 10.140, 28080 Madrid.

Eligibility for the Imserso Tourism Program for the 2023/2024 season extends to:

  • Retirement pensioners of the Spanish public pension system.
  • Widows' pensioners aged fifty-five or older.
  • Pensioners for other reasons or recipients of unemployment benefits or subsidies, aged 60 or older.
  • Insured individuals or beneficiaries of the Social Security System, aged sixty-five or older.
  • Emigrants returning to Spain and pensioners of the public Social Security System of their home country.
  • Spaniards residing abroad who meet specific requirements in selected countries.
  • Spaniards of immigrant origin who have returned to Spain, provided they are pensioners of the public Social Security systems of their emigrated countries.

Participants may also bring along their spouse, de facto partner, or someone with whom they share a stable cohabiting relationship, without age or pension requirements. Additionally, individuals with disabled children, with a disability degree of 45 percent or more, can accompany them, sharing the same room or opting for available double rooms for single use.

The Imserso trip prices for the 2023/2024 season vary depending on the destination and transportation options. Prices for trips to the Canary Islands range from 124 euros to 435 euros, with a 6.89 percent increase compared to the previous year. Prices for mainland Spain range from 124.68 euros to 293.16 euros and for the Balearic Islands, trips range from 210.47 euros to 331.49 euros. The program covers a wide range of destinations, including coastal zones, insular areas, and getaway tourism options like cultural circuits and nature exploration.

With the Imserso program's expanded availability and diverse travel options, retirees and pensioners in Spain have even more reasons to look forward to the upcoming 2023/2024 season, making affordable travel accessible to a broader audience than ever before.
