Much of Spain is on alert for further heavy rain and flooding over the coming days following a series of storms that have already been battering the country.
Earlier this week, parts of Andalucia were hit with 90 KM/H winds that uprooted trees causing town hall’s to issue severe weather warnings to local residents.
More prolonged and sometimes heavy rainfall is expected across the Iberian Peninsula once again from Wednesday afternoon into Friday with additional rainfall spreading into the weekend.
From Wednesday afternoon, rain will target the north of Portugal and northwest Spain and will move towards the south and east on Wednesday night covering the main interior of Spain.
The whole of the country can expect further rain on Thursday with the heaviest downpours expected across Portugal during the afternoon.
There will be a risk of flash flooding and travel disruption from Thursday night as heavy rainfall heads eastward towards Spain.
Further heavy downpours will hit both Spain and Portugal from Friday afternoon and into the weekend.
Those in Spain can expect up to 150mm or 6 inches of rainfall during the period.
