History

The Clinic Sant Jordi began life modestly in 1925 as the St. George Clinic, founded by Dr. Josep Dencàs Puigdollers, and located on Station Square St. Andrew. Dr Puigdollers formed a brotherhood or mutual association with his colleagues Dr. Augustine Marine Guinart and with the moral and financial support of Dr. Josep Cararach Mauri, in order to get the clinic up and running. In 1928, the colleagues hired the old neoclassical tower occupied by the firm Cafés Debray, and the following year were joined by Dr. Peter Martyr Cararach Rivera, and Francisco Prats who took charge of the management and commercial management side of things. Finally the Sant Jordi Clinic was born.

From the beginning the Clinic specialized in Surgery, General Medicine, Ophthalmology, Digestive disorders, ENT and dermatology, and offered laboratory and radiology services.

In May 2019, HM Hospitales acquired 77% of the shares in Clinica Sant Jordi, incorporating the hospital into its network of 40 private healthcare facilities.
