Costa del Sol Rated Best For Retirement In 2020 By Forbes Spain News

Upmarket publication Forbes has rated the Costa del Sol and other regions of the country as among some of the best places in which to retire in 2020.

According to the report, Spain has everything to offer with its ‘sunny and exciting European culture’, excellent healthcare and straightforward entry requirements for U.S citizens.

Other benefits of relocating to Spain included the low crime rate, the ‘very reasonable’ cost of living compared to other European countries and the warm year-round tropical climate.

The three regions that the publications highlighted as the best for retirees were the Costa del Sol, Bilbao and the Costa Azahar or Orange Blossom Coast.

For U.S citizens an income of just $36,000 for a couple is required in order to obtain the necessary retirement visa and long-term residence permit. And with the tax treaty between the two countries removing any double taxation issues and non-stop flights between the countries, Spain is the perfect choice for Americans looking to relocate to Europe. However, a basic ‘knowledge of some Spanish is a must’ according to the report.

Of course, for those of us who live in Spain this will come as no surprise. Most of us would agree that Spain has so much to offer, not just retirees, but also families looking for a safe, healthy and friendly place in which to raise their children. Probably why so many have chosen Spain as our home from home.

Also taking up the Forbes top 10 were other popular European destinations including Portugal and Italy, along with Colombia, Panama, Aruba and Scotland. Other popular choices included Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines.
