The Sanitas Student health insurance plan is designed to meet Spanish student visa requirements, offering full coverage with no co-payments or waiting periods. However, like all insurance policies, there are a few exclusions to be aware of.
The plan does not cover:
- Cosmetic or elective treatments
- Optical (vision) or hearing aids
- Vaccinations
- Maternity care and child birth
- Advanced dental treatments (beyond what’s included in Dental 21)
Although routine treatment abroad is not covered, the plan does include up to €12,000 in emergency medical assistance abroad through Sanitas' travel assistance benefit. This covers unexpected medical emergencies during travel outside of Spain for up to 90 consecutive days per trip. If you require care abroad, you must call Sanitas Assistance Abroad phone number on the back of your member card prior to treatment to activate coverage.
